Emerson House is located in Portland Oregon, 2 miles from Providence Portland Medical Center. We are known for our Alzheimer's and other dementia care. The entire facility is dedicated to the treatment of those in need of memory care. Emerson House offers care that is meant to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing home care. Assisted care facilities are substantially less expensive than a nursing home. Emerson House offers apartment style living accommodations. Residents may bring their own furnishings if desired. Rooms are individually climate controlled and provide cable television service and telephones for residents. The facility focuses on providing daily living assistance which includes meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry and medication assistance. Three meals and snacks are provided daily. Special diets are accommodated and a variety of dining styles are available including family dining, guest dining and room service as needed. All medical staff have undergone a background check. They are CPR certified and possess a food handling card. The medical staff is supervised by a registered nurse and receives ongoing training. Residents are provided with dental care, physical therapy and speech therapy as needed. Support groups are available for patients and family members. The facility has 24 hour up and awake care staff. Regular check-ins are made on the residents. Emerson House has many amenities including a sauna, whirlpool, computers with internet access, a library and clubhouse and meeting rooms. Residents have access to a beautician and barber. The facility provides many planned activities and social events. Residents participate in gardening, a walking club and Bible studies. The community provides a very close nit atmosphere. Residents are made to feel as though they were part of the family. Emerson House provides both long term and short term care solutions. Residents may also contract with outside agencies to bring in services.
