My Mom stayed at Grandview for a little over two weeks. The Physical Therapist and most of the daytime staff were good.Leanne one of the daytime nurses and Doug the evening CNA were wonderful. About half of the CNA's were helpful and nice. The nurse"Suzy" and the night CNA's were terrible. This nurse was very rude, she was extremlly deffensive over the simplest of questions, easily confused and overwheled and impossible to communicate with! The night CNA's would not even give Mom the time of day, LITERALLY and she needed to know the time because she had to request pain meds no more than every 6 hours in order to get them. Mom said the CNA's never said one kind word to her the entire night. My mom, who does not have altheimers, was put in a room with two other women who do have dementia. One of these women yelled "help me, help me" all day and night. Out of despiration, mom got in a wheel chair and went to a quite place, when discovered the night CNA reprimanded Mom like she was a child. My Mom describes her first night at Grandview as the worst night of her entire life, second only to the night my father died. This comming from a woman who has endured going legally blind at a young age, battled cancer twice, has crohn's, a knee replacement and now arthritis of the other knee and back and a pinched sciatic nerve. We did get mom moved to a different room after talking with the administrater, but nothing was ever easy. At Grandview the bad far outweighed the good. I would never advise my mother to go there again and I know she never would.
