We took our dog there because he has a growth under his tongue. Dr. Sokhey didn't give him a physical, didn't even touch him, made me open his mouth so he could see the growth, and then told us it would cost upwards of $400 to see if our pup could have surgery, then it would cost about $1,000 for the surgery and then we could find out IF he had cancer. When we hesitated he told us we had to make a decision in 24 hours.
We went to a different vet, immediately he felt the growth, said it was probably a liquid filed cyst and gave him a physical. He explained the next steps, cortisone shot, antibiotics and then to bring him back in about a week. It has been such a sad couple of days, worrying about losing our dog. I can't recommend that first Prairie Animal Hospital at all. He put us through hell.

I took my cat in for a simple procedure - nothing serious related to his health. He's an older cat yet in good health overall. When in there and speaking with the actual veterinarian himself - he did appear friendly but did not listen to me. He asked several questions about my cat and I answered. For example, has your cat lost weight. I said yes he has lost weight since i have owned him - but only to a healthy weight now as his previous owner over-fed him and he was then overweight a bit. As a result of my answer, the vet said that my cat definitely has at least one of four diseases and I need to pay close to $200 for blood and urine tests. Then, after that I can then choose if I want medication, etc. I told him that my cat was old and I understand their health may weaken, but that he was overall active and pretty healthy. The vet said that he knew best and he was the vet - I thought that rude as he didn't even see the cat when he had all his assumptions - let alone test or evaluate him. When it was time for him to lift the cat up to the table - he was so horrendous with the cat. A cat who is there is timid and scared - I kept my cat calm and could have easily lifted him to the table with my way of doing it - just carefully and gently picking him up. The vet grabbed him so aggressively the cat scratched him really bad. He then made the cat's mood even worse and escalated the cat's stress - to a red zone - then finally told ME that I needed to get my cat into a small clear container/box so he could be sedated (he was just having grooming done on a clump of fur). After the vet caused the cat to be so extremely upset - there was no way I could safely do it. I honestly wanted to leave at that time due to his unprofessional ism and the fact that he sounded like a used car salesman - trying to swindle things left and right. I could not leave though because my cat was so upset I would never get him in the carrier. So I reluctantly let them finish their job and even then the vet said he might not be able to get the clump off. Well, why would I be there paying for it? He was highly unprofessional and horrible with the cat. I will never go there again. On ONE single positive note - the older lady secretary was a doll and very sweet and kind. The young girl at the front was not friendly at all and the assistant to the vet was also very rough around the edges - to say it politely.
