FITNESS GUINEA PIG SAYS
Sometimes, in the course of trying so many different workouts, guinea pigs pull and strain things. Ouch.

FGP keeps giant boxes of Epsom salts and ibuprofen on hand for such occasions, but sometimes the pains are persistent.

A nagging hip pain recently started to appear every time she ran, so she's taking a little break from running to see whether it will heal or require a visit to a doctor.

She had planned to ignore the blah-looking "Aligned and Well" DVDs that were sitting on her desk, until her favorite trainer mentioned that some gentle hip-strengthening exercises and stretches might help. There happened to be a "Knees and Hips"

edition (there are versions to cover almost every ailment you can imagine), so she figured, "Why the heck not?"

The host, Katy Bowman, explains the why of everything you're doing during her exercise "prescriptions."

When you're hurting somewhere, sometimes it can be helpful to work on that area, and sometimes it's not (check with your doctor).

For FGP, the gentle stretching and strengthening routine on this DVD wasn't entirely fun, but it did seem to help. She plans to keep using it so she can avoid having this hip pain again.
