Five officers show swine flu symptoms

SAN FRANCISCO, Jul 27, 2009 (UPI via COMTEX) -- A San Francisco police officer
apparently brought swine flu back from a trip to Mexico and infected four other
officers, a police spokesman said.

The five officers are stationed at the department's Northern Station on Fillmore
Street and work the same shift, Capt. Al Casciato, head of the station, said.

Two days after one officer returned from Mexico, he and other officers started
showing flu symptoms, Casciato said. When one of the officers went to the doctor
he was tentatively diagnosed with the H1N1, the virus that causes what is
generally known as swine flu.

Police started a "precautionary cleaning" of the station and patrol cars during
the weekend.

The five officers were told to stay out of work for a week and see the
department's doctor before they can return.
