PLAINVIEW, Minn., Jul 11, 2009 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Possible salmonella
contamination has prompted a recall of some products containing non-fat dry
milk, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.
Plainview Milk Products Cooperative of Plainview, Minn., manufactured the
non-fat dry milk in the past two years, the FDA said. It has been used in
products made by Diamond Crystal Brands Inc. of Savannah, Ga., and Nutrition
Global LLC of Milford, Conn.
Nutrition Global is recalling batches of SNI Pro Whey, SNI Pro Mass and Sci Labs
Mass Fuzion Dietary Supplement.
Diamond Crystal used instant non-fat dry milk from Plainview in products
distributed in pouches to food-service organizations across the country.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children,
frail or elderly people or those with weakened immune systems. Among healthy
people, salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal
pain.
Customers who received Diamond Crystal products affected by the recall will be
contacted by a customer-service representative.
Those with concerns may call Diamond Crystal Brands at 800-654-5115 or Nutrition
Global at 888-663-1113.
