Ahnold wades into trans-fat fight

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Governator is out to destroy heart disease.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation yesterday making California the first state to ban trans fats from restaurant food, following the lead several cities and some major fast-food chains.

Schwarzenegger, a former body builder, noted that consuming trans fat is linked to heart disease.

New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle and Baltimore have already erased the notorious artery-clogger from menus.

The legislation signed by Schwarzenegger will take effect Jan. 1, 2010.
