Light, microwave popcorn is an easy work or nighttime snack,
and not a bad option either.
But if you've ever wondered about those ultra-buttery popcorns or
are looking to gorge on greasy goodness, here are three of the
butteriest bags we could find.
Orville Redenbacher's Ultimate Butter ($3.99)
Grade: A
Greasy fingers and a guilty conscious -- just what good,
gluttonous popcorn should provide. Well, that and the buttery
flavor, which this one delivers.
Nutritional info based on 1 cup of popped corn (each bag
contains about 12 cups) -- 30 calories, 2 grams fat, 40 milligrams
sodium, 3 grams carbohydrates and less than 1 gram dietary fiber
Pop Secret Movie Theater Butter, snack bags ($3.99)
Grade: B
This one doesn't use trendy buzzwords to sell itself, as it
shouldn't. Fluffy and light, but not worth the extra calories for
the slight additional butter flavor.
Nutritional info based on 1 cup of popped corn (each bag
contains about 6 cups) -- 40 calories, 3 grams fat, 55 milligrams
sodium, 4 grams carbohydrates and less than 1 gram dietary fiber.
Act II Xtreme Butter ($2.99)
Grade: D
Speaking of buzzwords, this popcorn screams butter on the box
but doesn't deliver in the bag. As one tester said, "They gave me
the calories and fat of a contender but could only deliver
mediocre flavor."
Nutritional info based on 1 cup of popped corn (each bag makes
about 12 cups) -- 40 calories, 2.5 grams fat, 60 milligrams
sodium, 4 grams carbohydrates and less than 1 gram dietary fiber.
