A new campaign has been launched in the U.K. a bid to reduce deaths from lung cancer. The Be Clear on Cancer lung cancer scheme is aimed at the over 50s because they are most at risk of the disease, which claims 28,000 lives a year in England - sometimes because it is often diagnosed too late. The campaign encourages people to not ignore a persistent cough, as this is often a main symptom. Other symptoms include repeated chest infections and coughing up blood. Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt says, "More people die from lung cancer than any other cancer in England, but many people don't know the signs and symptoms that could save their lives. The message from this campaign is clear - if you have a persistent cough, go and see your doctor. The earlier lung cancer is diagnosed, the more likely that treatment will be successful."
