Universal Health fourth-quarter profit rises to 75 cents


SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Universal Health Services Inc. late Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income rose to $39.9 million, or 75 cents a share, from $34.1 million, or 63 cents a share, a year earlier. The company's adjusted net income was $39.6 million, or 74 cents a share, up from $32.4 million, or 60 cents a share, in the fourth quarter of 2006. The King of Prussia, Pa., hospital company's revenue totaled $1.19 billion, compared with $1.07 billion. Analysts surveyed by FactSet Research had estimated earnings of 70 cents a share on revenue of $1.2 billion.
