Health Tip: Reduce Your Risk of Blood Clots

(HealthDay News) -- Dangerous blood clots can form when you are confined in a car or plane on a long trip.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention describes how you can help reduce your risk:

  • When sitting for long periods, stretch your legs frequently and walk around.
  • Talk to your doctor about what you can do to reduce your risk of developing a blood clot, especially if a close family member has had one.
  • Take an anticoagulant medication, if prescribed by your doctor.
