School nutrition programs honored for participation


Mar. 4--MOULTRIE -- The Georgia Department of Education has honored several Colquitt County Schools for reaching high levels of student participation in the 2007-2008 school year.

The criteria by which schools are recognized for breakfast participation is 57 percent and above at the elementary level, 40 percent and above at the middle school level, and high school would have to meet or exceed 29 percent participation.

The criteria by which schools are recognized for lunch participation is 89 percent and above at the elementary level, 90 percent and above and the middle school level, and the high school would have to meet or exceed 71 percent.

Schools recognized and their school nutrition managers were:

--Colquitt County High School, Jane Barwick: 74 percent lunch participation.

--Cox Elementary, Judy Chandler Pate: 74 percent breakfast and 96 percent lunch participation.

--Doerun Elementary, Karen Williams: 60 percent breakfast and 92 percent lunch.

--Funston Elementary, Eula Vickers: 71 percent breakfast and 89 percent lunch.

--Hamilton Elementary, Vicky Goff: 58 percent breakfast.

--Norman Park Elementary, Faye Busbin: 94 percent lunch.

--Odom Elementary, Hattie Jordan: 92 percent lunch.

--Okapilco Elementary, Vickie Gay: 67 percent breakfast and 96 percent lunch.

--Stringfellow Elementary, Lou Roseborough: 84 percent breakfast and 97 percent lunch.

--Williams Middle, Wayne Hendrixson: 92 percent lunch.
