Dr. Greenwood is an independent private practitioner with over 40 years experience as a mental health professional who practices in an office with other independent practitioners, Dr. Ann Leudke, Dr. Denice Jones, and Aaron Ruehle, MEd. Licensed as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia, he is a Clinical Fellow in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). He has an MS in Child Development and Family Relations, Family Therapy Track, from East Carolina University and a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech. From 1987 to 2013 he was a family therapist on the Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital Child and Adolescent unit and he has practiced at this office on a part-time basis since 1988. Dr. Greenwood practices with families, couples, and individuals from a family systems perspective, utilizing various evidence-based interventions.
