I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I see clients for mood disorders including anxiety, depression, stress management, PTSD, and couples counseling. I also see clients who may have an addiction; including alcohol, prescription drugs, marijuana and opiates. Research shows about 35-50% of mental health clients may have a substance abuse disorder and 50-75% of substance abuse clients may have a mental health disorder. Whether or not you may have an addiction, It helps to have a counselor who can screen, assess and treat for both mental health & substance abuse.
At times, a client will be referred by their physician/prior clinician, without their substance use ever being addressed. The field of co-occurring disorders, treating both mental health and substance abuse, utilizes evidence-base Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I also provide LADC/Substance Abuse Evaluations.
NH has some of the highest rates of substance abuse (per capita) in the country. While alcohol and marijuana are the top two, prescription drug abuse (Oxycodone, Vicodin, Xanax, Suboxone) is the fastest growing. By providing quality outpatient mental health and substance abuse counseling, we hope to help our community!
