About

Luis Navarro, MD

The Vein Treatment Center (VTC) was established in 1982 as a medical facility devoted exclusively to the treatment of varicose veins, spider veins, and related venous disorders. The VTC is the most proven and comprehensive vein treatment facility in New York, offering over 25 years of experience, the latest techniques, and state-of-the-art equipment in the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease.

Our goal at the VTC is to treat venous problems and alleviate the symptoms of venous disease while obtaining the best cosmetic results. These results are achieved through a combination of treatment methods – sclerotherapy, cryo sclerotherapy, foam sclerotherapy, duplex-guided sclerotherapy, laser therapy, mini-phlebectomy, TIGOS, Endolaser™, and/or ambulatory surgery. The combining of surgical and non-surgical treatment methods was developed by the VTC over 20 years ago as Combined Therapies™ . Unequalled then, such combinations have since become the standard of treatment for varicose and spider veins.

In the last 10 years, the development of Endolaser™ (aka,EVLA, EVLT) by the VTC has revolutionized the field of Phlebology by making traditional surgery for varicose veins obsolete. Our patented method has been adopted by physicians around the world.

The Founder and Director of the VTC is well known surgeon Luis Navarro, M.D., FACS, FACPh, who leads a team of highly specialized and Board Certified physicians, certified physician assistants, and medical support staff in the diagnosis and treatment of venous disorders.

Services Modern advancements in medical treatment have made the goal of restoring proper venous blood flow by eliminating varicose and spider veins from venous circulation even safer and more effective. Treatment methods vary from collapsing the veins from the inside with laser energy or physically removing the vein, to different methods of sclerotherapy. All treatment methods can be performed separately or in conjunction to offer the best results.

Which medical treatment is best-suited for you will depend on a number of things:

Type (spider vein or varicose vein)
Size & Pressure (how big are they in diameter)
Source Location of veins involved (for legs it can be thigh, ankle or behind the knee. Veins even appear on the hands, face, breasts, back, and genital areas)
Severity or concentration of veins
Skin texture & Color
All of the above is determined by various non-invasive diagnostic tests that are performed in our office. Through physical examination and diagnostic testing we choose of one or more treatment methods to achieve the desired cosmetic results.

Methods of treatment for varicose veins and spider veins include all forms of sclerotherapy, cyro sclerotherapy, foam sclerotherapy, laser-assisted sclerotherapy, duplex-guided sclerotherapy, TIGOS, Endovenous Laser Ablation (Endolaser, EVLT), Mini-Phlebectomy and Ambulatory Surgery.
