Through additional studies and examinations he became a Board Certified, Chiropractic Orthopedist in 1989.
A Chiropractic Orthopedist has been trained to
treat a variety of problems associated with the extremities: hands, feet, ankles, shoulders, knees,hips and ribs.
Through his training, Dr. Cordova has incorporated the use of several different types of chiropractic techniques that range from normal manipulation to light force manipulation and non-force manipulation. The treatment method of choice depends upon the patient and the conditon.
He was trained in a deep tissue release method called Receptor Tonus developed by the late Dr. Raymond Nimmo, a 1925 Palmer graduate. Together with Dr. Nimmo he taught this method to chiropractic students and doctors at numerous chiropractic colleges.
Dr. Cordova developed the cirriculum for this method which was taught at Palmer College. He served as the first instructor of the method at Palmer and uses this adjunctive treatment method with most patients.
He has been a chiropractic patient since 1970 and credits chiropractic with healing a stomach ulcer which was scheduled for surgery. It was through the contiued prompting of his first chiropractor, Dr. Eugene Schultz, Dr. Cordova decided to enter Palmer College Chiropractic.
He is proud that over the years he has encouraged 4 of his own patients to become Doctors of Chiropractic.
