I tore the labrum in my throwing shoulder playing baseball and required surgery and physical therapy to have it fixed. I was prescriped a physical therapy regimen by the surgeon, but there are so many options for physical therapists in this area that I had no idea where to go.

I asked some friends that I play baseball, softball and hockey with if they had any suggestions and more than a few recommended the Jackson Clinics as a good option. I have a teammate with the unfortunate luck of having been through multiple surgeries, rehab protocols and physical therapists. He endorsed the Jackson Clinics and specifically mentioned the Springfield location as the best he'd been to. Between his endorsement and the phenomenal location it was a no-brainer for me to start my physical therapy there.

My experience at JC-Springfield since the first day I called them until now (4 months into my rehab) has been superlative. The office management staff is professional, courteous and makes all the overhead of physical therapy incredibly easy. They consistently cover everything from payment, insurance, scheduling and appointment reminders in a way that makes working my sessions into my normal life as easy as could be. Jonathan Cruz is great and has always made things as painless as possible and I've never had a question or schedule request that wasn't answered or addressed immediately.

My physical therapist, Laura Barrett, is simply amazing. She is experienced, professional and consistently communicates the requirements of rehab protocol in a way that I can understand and take action on. She made physiological issues that I would never understand normally seem like common sense and was always aware and ahead of possible pain issues and what they mean. I can't explain how good this was for me as someone going through a surgery and rehab for the first time. Based on listening to other clients engage with other physical therapists at JC-Springfield I get the sense that this level of attention and service is the norm there.

My exercise therapist, Amber, is just awesome. She has an infectious enthusiasm and energy level that makes the sessions engaging and as productive as possible. That may sound dumb, but the exercises that are necessary can become very mundane and repetitive without a great coach like Amber.

Every single time I've gone in Amber and Laura collaborate on my current status and what my exercise priorities should be. Again, this level of staff collaboration seems like the status quo at JC-Springfield. It's obvious that my recovery is something that matters to Amber and Laura and that is something that can't be undervalued.

My surgeon was impressed enough with my strength and range of motion 4 months into my recovery that I'm already playing hockey again at full speed and have clearance to begin throwing a baseball as part of my recovery. I'm somewhere around a month ahead of schedule overall in my protocol and I attribute most of that to choosing the Jackson Clinics-Springfield.

My whole life I've been able to throw a baseball pretty well. When I couldn't any longer it was a pretty scary thing. Surgery sucks. Staring down the barrel of 6 months of recovery sucks. The fear of losing the ability to something I've taken for granted my whole life and not being able to compete again was very real for me. I don't have that fear any more and I have the utmost confidence that I'll make a full recovery. I don't know a better endorsement for The Jackson Clinics - Springield than that and I'm guessing any athlete that's been through there would say the same. I'm grateful for finding them and will recommend them to anybody I know that has the same need.
