A butcher and a liar who has been taken to court for malpractice! Caveat Emptor!

Dr. Semilof diagnosed my 11-year-old cat with gastric lymphoma. She painted a fairly bright picture--with "treatment," she said, my cat could live for years. When my internet research suggested otherwise, she essentially guilted me into having this cat undergo surgery ("so, you are going to condemn this cat to death merely because you don't want to give him postop care?") After his surgery he had a consultation with an oncology vet at Cornell, who didn't hesitate to tell me that only 50% of the cats will respond to chemotherapy and those that do live at most 9 months. Dr. Semilof told me the animal was a "good candidate for chemotherapy," but the Cornell vet said no, since one of his 4 tumors had perforated, something Dr. Semilof "forgot" to tell me. She also "forgot" to tell me that my cat had a heart murmur, which means that it was entirely likely that he would not survive the chemotherapy anyway.

I had to put my cat down today, not even a month out of surgery. His cancer had spread to his liver, and the poor thing was jaundiced. He was also anemic. He weighed less than 3 lbs. The new vet I took him to was shocked at his appearance and even more shocked at my story (and I didn't even tell her about Dr. Semilof's surgical suite, which consists of a table in the middle of a busy hallway).

P.S. Note to Dr. Semilof--Cats CAN INDEED be allergic to chicken (or any other type of protein), and it is not "prohibitively expensive" to test for it and have bottles made up for allergy shots. In fact, the process can cost less than $200.00, which is far less than it cost me for the useless surgery you performed on my now-dead cat.
