I was hospitalized in the child psychiatric ward of Union Hospital Feb. 2013. I'm 18 years old and a girl. I had Dr. Ho, who was completely useless. He took one patient off of all of her meds cold turkey, which is EXTREMELY dangerous. I was hospitalized because of a failed suicide attempt. I am at a healthy weight, but I suffer from a severe eating disorder and Dr. Ho repeatedly made snide comments about how fat I was. This would be bad even if he didn't know that I was suicidal and had an eating disorder. The nurses were mean and frequently unnecessarily violent with the patients (who were all CHILDREN). Mark and Ed were nice. The food was stale and unhealthy, and I was denied visits with my parents for no reason. I received no respect, and was not told when my meds were being changed and such. The common room was always filthy or was dripping with bleach. I got burns on the back of my thighs from sitting on the chairs there in shorts. The bathrooms were filthy. The female med nurse was horrible, but the male one named Kennedy was really great.
Tl; dr: You are better off dead than being hospitalized here.
