Hospice of the Panhandle provides professional medical care and volunteer support to people with end-stage illnesses. Care is provided in private residences, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and in the Hospice of the Panhandle inpatient facility. Care is provided by physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, home health aides, social workers, chaplains and grief counselors. The goal of hospice care is to help a person with an end-stage illness retain as much quality of life as possible by controlling the symptoms related to serious illness and supporting the patient and their family. Hospice of the Panhandle cares for people in Berkeley, Hampshire, Jefferson and Morgan County in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia. Hospice of the Panhandle also offers grief counseling and support free of charge to anyone in the community who has experienced the death of a loved one.
