The place is pleasantly situated, but do not, ever make a complaint against a staff member while a family member lives. My mother died at AVOW, but before she died, I made a mistake of complaining. I was there for over ten hours sitting with my mother and I saw no one come into the room to attend to her. When I complained, a couple of uncaring, insensitive witches came into the room.

They complained that they had too many admissions that day and had no time to care for my Mom and told me how unhappy they were that I complained. While they changed the bed, they were so rough, my mother screamed and screamed in agony for the entire time they changed the sheets and for some time afterwards. They continued to rough her up despite her screams. My mother had a broken back at the time.

NEVER EVER COMPLAIN about the lack of care at this hospice until after your loved one dies there.
