Because of the artists in his family, Dr. Laverson was raised in a creative environment. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland in 1979. His professional foundation was established during ten postgraduate years of disciplined study and apprenticeship in the art and science of surgery at respected teaching hospitals in Los Angeles and New York . He passed certifying oral and written board examinations in General Surgery and in Plastic Surgery, and Re-certified in Plastic Surgery in 2005.
