Donald Laub Jr., MD,FACS

Dr. Laub is professor in both the department of Surgery and the department of Pediatrics. He received his MD degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1990, where he received the Millman award, the Frankow award for academic excellence, the Wagner award for proficiency in anatomy and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha, Medical Honor Society.

He medical director of the Vermont State Children with Special Health Needs Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Clinic. aspx He has been performing cleft surgery since 1993.
Dr. Laub participates in many volunteer reconstructive surgical missions to Ecuador, Honduras, Vietnam, Brazil and Guatemala with Interplast, Inc., and Hospital de la Familia Foundation. This experience has allowed him to help hundreds of afflicted people in the third world, and to work with many of the masters of cleft surgery.

Dr. Laub is a member of the American Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Association (ACPA). The Vermont State CSHN Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Clinic is an ACPA affiliated clinic. He has presented a paper to the 2005 meeting of the ACPA describing the unique format of the Vermont CSHN cleft palate/craniofacial clinic, and presenting the results of a patient and family satisfaction survey. 93% of the patients and families were happy with the clinic set-up.

Dr. Laub was recently invited by the Arbeitgemeinschaft fr Osteosynthesefragen, Association for the Study of Internal Fixation to be a visiting professor at the Morriston Hospital Maxillofacial and cleft surgery unit in Swansea Wales, UK.

He has completed the New York University workshop on Nasoalveolar moulding technique.

Dr. Laub also has training in the treatment of congenital hand differences at the Lucille Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto, California.

Dr. Laub has published over twenty articles in peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, and more than a dozen abstracts at scientific conferences. He also serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Surgical Research and ISRN Surgery, and as a reviewer for Pediatrics, and the Cleft PalateCraniofacial Journal.
