I was encouraged to buy a couple hundred dollars worth of product that later I found out were unnecessary or much less expensive elsewhere. I would feel awkward at this place, because the dermatologist seemed more like a cosmetics salesman than perhaps he should. If I couldn't find anyone better, I'd return again. I definitely found better service elsewhere: my current dermatologist alwas provides information about the least expensive options for the same results.

Dr. Schlesinger made no mention of the operation leaving a scar. I however did inquire about the possibility of scaring, to which the doctor confessed that the operation would result in a "little bit" of a scar. The truth is a large scar resulted that I now try to hide.

When asked about insurance covering the procedure he said the insurance company will never tell someone if a procedure is covered. This of course is not true and I did my due diligence to ensure that the procedure was covered.

Shortly there after, I expressed my concerns to a co-worker who was referred to Dr. Schlesinger. The co-workers treatment involved a series. The treatments were covered one per month, but the Doctor's office did not take the minimal concern of working with the insurance in scheduling the treatments. Consequently for the sake of one week of scheduling, my co-worker was left paying for half the treatments out of pocket.

Grounding in the above assertions, the assessment of the doctor is that he is more interested in processing patients through his mill in high volume than a genuine concern for the best interest of the patient.
