Joseph W. Spadafora, D.O., is the Medical Director of Community Eye Center. He completed his undergraduate studies at Boston University, followed by graduate work at the University Of New Hampshire, Durham, NH. He received his medical degree from the University of Health
Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Kansas City, MO. Dr. Spadafora completed his Internship at Metropolitan General Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL, and his Ophthalmology Residency at the Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital in Tulsa, OK, where he
was awarded the Mead Johnson Fellowship Grant and the Burroughs Welcome Fellowship Grant. He is Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida, Tampa. He is Board Certified and a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Charlotte County Medical Society and the Florida Medical Association. He
is affiliated with all area hospitals. He is the past-
chairman of the St. Joseph’s Physicians Hospital
Organization and is on the hospital’s Foundation Board, and serves on the Board of Governors of Prevent Blindness Florida.Dr. Spadafora has performed national research in ocular
anti-inflammatory agents, glaucoma medications, ocular antibiotic agents, and laser cataract extraction at St. Lucy’s Outpatient Surgery Center.

One of the first things I noticed about this business was how many different areas of the building were handicap-accessible. I have been to other places where I couldn't tell how someone in a wheelchair could even enter, but they really spent a lot of time to accommodate people with all different needs. They always return my phone calls quickly. I always know that I'll get a prompt answer to my question. They paid close attention to me and all of my questions were answered. They were ready to see me when I showed up for my appointment. I never had to wait for them to show up.

They are an absolute expert in the field. I would never feel unsafe or apprehensive in their care. They were so kind and attentive to me. I didn't have to worry about them arguing with me, or contradicting what I had to say, which has been a problem for me at other places. I was highly impressed with how comfortable the chairs in the waiting room were. Their standard of patient comfortability is obviously very high and it showed throughout the entire appointment.
The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better.
