I got this HORRIBLE AND AWFUL doctor as my delivering OB. She's obnoxious and poorly trained. She told me that she isn't trained to deliver babies with a woman in any position except on her back. I was on my hands and knees. When I refused to turn over, she asked me to "consent to endangering the life of my child" because "it needs to be documented."

Dr. Reynolds was concerned that I would have shoulder dystocia. A few problems with this. First, no one can predict when should dystocia is going to happen. Second, I had never had a larger than normal size measurement at any point during my pregnancy. Third, the hands-and-knees position is actually one of the maneuvers that doctors can use to PREVENT shoulder dystocia, and if it didn't work, I would have turned over. But this poor excuse for a doctor was either too stupid or on a power trip. Oh, and the four other deliveries that happened the night I was there when she was on call? ALL c-sections.

And guess what, there was no shoulder dystocia. My son came out just fine, and thank god there was a competent midwife also on call who came in to catch him.

So Beware.
