Paul Puziss, MD

Dr. Puziss is an orthopedic surgeon who has practiced for 33 years. He retired from performing surgeries in 2006, but continues a very active practice, treating all orthopedic diseases, injuries to the spine and extremities, carpal tunnel syndrome and fractures. He performs nerve conduction studies (electrical nerve tests), and the highest quality X-rays on his new digital X-ray machine. He provides the highest quality care, and he is a doctor who listens to the patient. Dr. Puziss will assiduously study your orthopedic problem, and make a diagnosis, even when the conditions are multiple and complicated. He helps patients with work/occupational injuries and will advocate for the legitimate needs of his patients. He treats all other types of injuries, including those from sports activities, aging and motor vehicle accidents, and he performs Independent Medical Examinations. He performs Arbiter examinations for workers compensation claimants for the State of Oregon, and Second Independent Medical Examinations for the State of Alaska. Dr. Puziss is very knowledgable regarding the Oregon and Washington workers compensation systems. He specialized in surgery of the shoulder since 1983, but also performed arthroscopy and other surgeries for elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet. He assisted neurosurgeons in spinal surgeries for 25 years, and is expert in diagnosing painful spinal disorders, and treating them nonsurgically. Dr. Puziss will refer his patients to highly competent surgeons when necessary, and typically only after conservative treatment fails. He will follow his operated patients postoperatively to help ensure the best possible surgical result and optimize recovery, a team approach which has been so very valuable to his many patients. Unfortunately my late husband and I have had several Motor Vehicle Accidents in our lives. Because of the MVA's and a work related injuries, I have been a patient of Dr. Paul Puziss on and off for approximately 25 years. With all the doctors that I (and my husband) have met in my lifetime, (and there have been many) I'm 55 now, I have only seen a couple that have been as caring, competent and compassionate as Dr. Paul Puziss.

When my Worker’s Comp claim was denied, Dr. Puziss went to battle for me and I won my case and Worker’s Comp reversed their decision. He also testified in my MVA trials. I have definitely found him to be a patients advocate and I believe that is because he cares so much about his patients.

I don’t think that anyone wants to wait at the doctor’s office, but I feel that a good doctor is concerned about each and every patient and so when it’s your turn, you want someone who will take the time not only to listen to you but to also actually hear you. Dr. Puziss is efficient, yet he spends the time necessary to provide you with a thorough examination and answers to your questions. He doesn’t sacrifice care for speed, yet I haven’t found the usual wait to be very long.

Dr. Puziss has put together a terrific staff that a finely tuned machine. Without hesitation, I recommend Dr. Paul Puziss with highest regard.
