Today 11/19/2014 I went to this office per my 9:30 appointment to be fitted for my upper dentures.
Short history:
10/14/2014 I went to this office because I was having a tooth ache. At that time I was told, based on additional medical information that I had provided and the fact that my mouth was "full of infection", the best thing for me would be to have all of my upper teeth pulled. Which they did that same day as well as additional work on my bottom teeth that needed to be done. At this time I was told that it would take anywhere from 2-6 weeks to get the approval from the insurance company.
10/29//2014 I contacted this office just to see if by chance they had received the authorization for my upper dentures. Karen said no they had not received it.
11/4/2014 I contacted the office again hoping that maybe they had received the required approval. Again Karen said that they had not received anything from the insurance company.
11/11/2014 I contacted the number on the back of my insurance card and inquired as to the status of the authorization. The person I spoke with said that it was approved and that the letter was going out to them. She gave me the approval number. I explained to her why it was so important to me to get this done as soon as possible and she asked how long I had been waiting and I told her I had had them pulled on 10/14/2014 and I understood that it could take 2-6 weeks for the approval but because I was facing upcoming treatments for breast cancer I was hoping that would not take so long. She explained to me that they had just received the request from the dentist office on 11/7/2014 and that normal processing time was approximately 5 days.
11/11/2014 I also called and spoke with Karen and scheduled my appointment on 11/14/2014 to be fitted for my top dentures.
11/14/2014 I was not feeling well and had to cancel this appointment. It was rescheduled for today 11/19/2014 at 9:30 a.m.
11/19/2014 I arrived at the office and checked in with Karen. I sat in the waiting room for an 11/2 hrs waiting to see the dentist. During that time they had taken two walk in clients ahead of me. I asked Karen about this and she explained that even though they had signed in as "walk ins" they actually had an appointment. So I sat back down and waited until after 11 a.m. before I was called to go back to the exam room. Once I was in the room I was told that they could not fit me for my dentures today because there was still work that needed to be done on my bottom teeth first. I asked why I had done been told this when I made the appointment? I told them that I had taken the initiative contacted the insurance company in order to help expedite this fitting. Again I explained the urgency to get this done due to upcoming chemo and radiation treatments for breast cancer. I emphatically told her I wanted to be fitted today. Then Karen told me that I had to have a hard copy of the approval letter. I contact the insurance company and the representative offered to provide her the information for the approval as well as a website where you could see the approval letter and print it if needed. Karen refused to talk the insurance company on my phone, refused to access the website and view the approval as well as refusing to contact their main office to see if they had received it. At that time she told the friend that was with me that I was not allowed back at this office and handed her a business card with the other office address on it. The office on West Broad St is literally 2 minutes from my house and the other office on East Broad St is approximately 20-25 minutes from my house. Is it just me or does anyone else see a problem with this????? This who situation could have been avoided had they set the correct expectations and communicated with me, the insurance company and their main office. I like two of the dentist at this location but the office staff has no idea what the words "CUSTOMER SERVICE" mean.

I made an appt to get my tooth pulled. I went on Jan 15th 2010. I have a ICD unit and take plavix. I went off the plavix for 5 days to get my tooth pulled. After consulting with my cardiologist. So I wouldn't bleed to death. Which was a waste of time and I took a chance in getting a blood clot. The dentist office was well informed of all this information. Now mind you this was the same tooth they did a root canal on back in July 09. Instead of pulling it they said they could cap it and it would be just fine. The next day it fell out and I almost choked on it.

Mind you I asked over and over again to please pull it. I do believe I was hurried along so they could go to lunch. I had to pay cash because I have no dental coverage now. Karen had told me when I made the appt that it would be $55.00, however I could pay $20.00. Then pay the rest the following month. Well, Dr Bowen said he would cap it for the same price. Again, I wanted it pulled. I wonder how Medicaid would feel for paying for something back in July that wasn't even worth paying for.

Now, I have a broken tooth down in my gum which will cost me $300.00 to $400.00 to go to another dentist. Besides, the fact they did a root canal on another tooth back in July 09 and it fell out and they capped that tooth as well. Now, I have a lump on my gums that can be abscessed in both areas that they did root canals on. Mind you I had a silent massive heart attack back in 2005. Which again they were aware of.

Now I have to be under stress and pain for the damage they did. I would never recommend this dentist office to anyone. Karen called me on Feb. 3rd 2010 and said they would send me a check for the cash that I paid per her manager. Today is Feb 10th 2010 and still no check. Not only did they mess up my teeth, my mouth, and now they are telling lies about sending me a check. How could they do this to me? Not only should they reimburse my $20.00 they should pay another dentist to fix my teeth the proper way.
