i had high hopes going in to the appointment. when i called to make my first appointment, it was scheduled for the day before i get paid.so i knew i wouldn't have the money to pay that day, so i asked the lady making the appointment what all i needed to bring. i explained it was the day before i got paid. i was told to bring my medicare card. and that after medicare was billed i would know what my part was. i know it is typically 20% of an agreed upon amount between medicare and the provider. i WAS NOT told what that would be. i also asked at the time of scheduling if i would need a referral, she said only if i had a medicare supplement, which i did not.

so, i arrive, get back to the room. not a long wait at all, then the dr. came in.pretty rude. i was trying to explain why i was there, regarding where the pain was at that i was having....he continuously interrupted me to tell me that i "needed to be more specific". i was touching the top of my foot and ankle indicating that is where most of my pain was.

then we got to the "needed xrays" part, and that is when he asked if i had my 20%. i said no. that i get paid tomorrow. and explained what i was told when i made the appointment. he said that i WAS NOT told that. he looked to his receptionist, and she said i was not told that. but admitted that she was NOT who made the appointment.

even worse than being treated like a liar, when the dr. looked at the list of medications i was on, he began asking me about them. when he got to the one i have been prescribed for 10 years now for pain, he asked "what's this for, do you have a drug problem?' i informed him that i do NOT have a drug problem, that i in fact have a condition that causes a great deal of chronic pain and that is why i was prescribed that.

i was quite offended. i was there for help. i was not at any point asking for any prescriptions to be written. there was absolutely no good reason to treat me like a lying drug addict. i was speechless. upon leaving i was to reschedule for 2 weeks, and maybe i could pay then. i again asked the lady if she could call the one who made the appointment, because i am not in the habit of lying and truly don't appreciate being treated as if i were.

i can't say why i was lumped into these categories by this dr. and his staff, other than the fact it was obvious i am poor, but i did have insurance, and expected to be helped. instead i was thoroughly insulted and humiliated. i called back after about thirty minutes to cancel the appointment that was made for 2 weeks out. i have no desire to be judged so callously by someone who is no better than myself again.

The above patient was professionally evaluated and diagnosed to solve their problem most expediently. This OTC medication could be purchased via Amazon - yes, but at twice the price they paid my office. That is, only if the patient knew which medication would have worked for their diagnosis.
