I trust my primary and Gerstenfeld may be competent, but the combination of his lack of bedside manner & his disinterested staff were a turnoff. I was a new patient with several questions and concerns- a waited to be seen, overheard desk staff talking about other patients, and the Gerstenfeld saw me and rushed through the appointment. Sorry, if you brush past questions, clearly want to end the appt, and don't make eye contact- then I don't want to spend my time and risk my health with you, either. Told my primary & was referred to another derm. Primary said he had gotten similar feedback from other patients.

This draft that is constructed by the survey questions is odd and misleading. Many of the reviews on here are probably not actually based on what people say but on how they answer the questions. Interesting.
I've visited Dr. Gerstenfeld multiple times and have been surprised that the staff responded to me negatively when I said I was there for a skin check. They said something to the effect that the Dr.s aren't supposed to do that, and there needs to be a specific reason. (I guess because I have an HMO and have to be referred by my primary Dr.). I would think the fact that I have melanoma in my family and previous precancerous spots removed would be enough, but I guess not. I didn't feel as though the Dr. checked me very thoroughly and he only did a biopsy after I told him I was sure a mole had changed - it ended up being precancerous so I was glad I insisted. Overall, I have not been extremely confident about the care I've received here and will be going somewhere else when my insurance changes in January.
