For the love of all that is holy, DO NOT EVER GO HERE. EVEN IF IT'S AN EMERGENCY. If I could give this place negative stars, I would give them all of the negative stars in the world. These people are seriously crooked douchebags.

I went in here a few years ago because I had some serious dental issues, and even with insurance, I couldn't afford the copay at most dentists. My aunt saw a commercial for Western Dental which said they will give anyone a payment plan for their copay, so I went.

I got there before 10 in the morning, and I had a really short wait to get back there and get x-rayed. Most places will x-ray you, then send you home with antibiotics (my wisdom teeth were indeed infected) and have you come back for treatment later. Not this place. They showed me my x-ray, and told me I needed 8 root canals on my front teeth. I told them my back teeth were hurting. They assured me it was pain transference and those teeth were okay. OKAY THEN. I asked how many root canals they would do today and the assistant told me probably two or three.

So I got sent into the back with an Asian dentist, and I probably blocked his name out because it was horrible. He started working on my teeth around 10:30 in the morning. It was AWFUL. He didn't use enough novocaine, and I kept flinching because it hurt. He actually YELLED in my face to stop moving. When I asked to have it numbed again, he said it wouldn't work. I didn't know then, but this guy was grinding down all 8 of my teeth that they said needed root canals.

A few times throughout the nightmare experience, he would get up and leave for long periods of time. I cried throughout the whole thing. I am not a crier, even when it comes to pain, but it hurt so badly I couldn't stop. One assistant actually walked by while I had these metal rods sticking out of all of my teeth, and laughed at me while I was sitting there crying.

So the drilling/grinding was awful, and so were the stabbing metal rods and holding my mouth open for hours. Then he topped it off by pouring in the filling which burned. When he was finally done it was after 8pm. I sat there in pain, with no food, water, or cigarettes ( I smoked then), for almost 10 HOURS. Then when I was walking out to the receptionist area, he was like "Oh make and appointment for two weeks from now for your caps. Your insurance only covered this, so you have to buy those."

If I wasn't in such a state from what happened I honestly would have hit him in the face. I went out to the receptionist, and I said I wasn't making an appointment, and I left.

They tried to bill my insurance, and I disputed that. I went to a new and better dentist (Centennial, which I wish I would have known about before the Western Dental incident), where they said the x-ray Western Dental took was useless. It wasn't done right, so you couldn't actually see anything. So I'll never know if I needed those root canals or not. I probably didn't.

It turned out my pain was from a broken wisdom tooth, and the fact that the roots from my wisdom teeth broke into my sinus cavity and I needed the membrane repaired. I was told Western Dental can't perform oral surgery, so that's probably the reason they gave me all those root canals. Just to get me in for something they could actually do,

I explained everything to my insurance company, and since Western Dental never gave me a consent form to sign (or even showed me a plan), the insurance company threw their claim out. I contacted some attorneys, and was told that medical malpractice doesn't hold up in Kern County, so basically tough shit.

I never did have the money to get caps on my teeth, and the root canals weren't done properly anyway (my teeth were malformed) and now my teeth are horrible looking because most of the work they did broke apart. And now I have panic attacks whenever i even consider going to the Dentist. I really really hope someone puts them out of business.

I could tell that they took pride in their office's appearance. It was very well organized and well taken care of. Everything they told me in the beginning ended up turning out exactly the way they said it would. They were able to provide me everything they promised me. I've never doubted their abilities. They were ready to see me when I showed up for my appointment. I never had to wait for them to show up. They would never suggest that I buy something that wasn't necessary, and never pressured me. They were always very considerate and professional.
