by Mary Kay Morgan, MS CPT Big "ah-ha" moments are wonderful gifts. Mine ususally come while running, practicing yoga or taking a shower. I've heard this happens to a lot of people because these kinds activities can take on a meditative quality. The monkey mind shuts off, maybe only for a moment, but in that moment we can actually listen for a change! Voila ~ the "ah-ha" is born! This particular "ah-ha" occured during a yoga... 11/28/2007 6:18:31 AM
by Nina Atwood, M.Ed., LPC When was the last time you were kissed for the first time by someone new? I don't mean a casual peck on the cheek. I mean a hot, passionate, bone-melting, knee-weakening, no-holds-barred kiss. Now ask yourself this: what happened after that? Did you hook up (as in casual sex), start a long-term relationship, or go your separate ways? The answer may have something to do with your gender. A new study... 11/27/2007 8:40:15 PM
by Jeffrey Ellis, MD Nearly every day, patients ask us about their toenails - concerned that they are too thick. Wearing sandals or flip-flops, or just walking around barefoot, can be a major embarrassment if you have thick, crumbly or yellow nails. Most attribute their nail changes to a fungal infection of the nail, called Onychomycosis. Though this is often the case, fungus is not the only cause of nail changes. Other... 11/27/2007 1:27:43 PM

A CT scan is an excellent test to diagnose a multitude of diseases, both acute and chronic. There is no doubt that these scans save peoples lives everyday. For example, CT scan is the best test to diagnose acute cerebral hemorrhage, internal injuries related to trauma or hard to detect fractures. These... 11/26/2007 11:25:45 PM
by Lisa Druxman I was just appalled when I read this recent article in the NY Times Skin Deep: Is the 'Mom Job' Really Necessary? http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/04/fashion/04skin.html?emc=eta1 It seems that all moms in America are being told that their body after baby is not acceptable and that plastic surgery is the only answer. I visit the gym and see moms everywhere that have been tucked, lipo'd and siliconed.... 11/25/2007 8:00:00 AM

I'm currently in New York visiting in-laws, giving "Thanks" to my sister-in-law and her husband for coming home from 2 tours of military service oversees. We're getting ready for the traditional feast with family and friends tomorrow -- and my belly anxiously awaits my ALL-TIME favorite: Sweet potato casserole! by Jeffrey Ellis, MD Now that the weather is getting colder, we are already seeing many patients with severely chapped lips. The best way to deal with chapped lips is to avoid the dry, cold weather that can cause them in the first place. Since heading for the tropics is not too practical for most people, here are some tips to keep your lips happy this winter season. Protect your lips. Before you go out-and several times... 11/21/2007 9:46:29 AM
by Rae Pica Well, I'm back from the "windy city" and the whirlwind that is the annual conference of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and I thought I'd share a little of the experience with you. From what I was told, this year's conference brought together 22,000 members of the Association, which is this country's largest organization of early childhood professionals (about 100,000 members).... 11/20/2007 12:33:59 PM
by Beth Rosenshein How do we bring treatment of menopause into the 21st century? It is actually not a difficult thing to do. First, we recognize menopause for what it is, hypogonadism, and that we were healthier before our ovaries failed, and second, that once they have failed we simply need to replace the hormones the ovaries once produced. The ovaries produce many hormones so replacing just estrogen is not enough.... 11/18/2007 11:22:08 PM
