The American Pregnancy Association recommends discussing prenatal vitamins with your doctor. There are a number of reasons why women should take these nutritional supplements, but not every women understands the necessity of discussing these reasons with a licensed health care professional.

Therefore, it is recommended that each woman discuss her particular health state in order to find a formulation that is right for her body type and state of health. Babies that are born to mothers that are lacking in nutritional needs have higher rates of developmental and physical disabilities.
