Healing Your "Stuckness" with your Life-Force.

When I work with people in my office, one of the first things I do is an assessment, an assessment of their readiness for healing, for life to work for them. Of course, I first have to find out why they came to see me---for their neck or back tension, for work stress, for their stuckness. But then I have to assess the persons life-force---how ready are they to receive healing, how ready are they to move forward in their life. The Life-force determines how connected are we to our bodies, to our feelings, to being honest with ourselves and our loved ones. How open are we to support and guidance?

You have no idea how many people have shown up for bodywork, asking for pain relief in their body, yet unaware that a part of them is separate from their body. I think it's a cultural thing, so many people living primarily from thinking about their body, figuring out what to do about the chronic pains and aches in their body, worrying about their body. Thinking about it, figuring it out, worrying-these are the words our minds use to describe experience, These are NOT the experiences we actually go through. Take an example...A persons shoulder is hurting. Has for years maybe. They have been gong to so many practitioners--- physical therapists, chiropractors, doctors, massage---.the shoulder pain is there. So then its obvious. If the Physical treatments have not worked, then its obvious that person who can't heal the shoulder is dislocated from their shoulder. No I didn't say their shoulder was dislocated. THEY are not in the shoulder, to feel it hear it, understand it. This is so common in my Practice. The physical symptom so often is a message to the person about their relationship to life. It is convenient for us to want to fix the body instead of face ourselves. It is comfortable. Another example is low back pain. It is easier for some people to get surgery to fix our back, instead of realizing that the low back pain may be a message to get rid of your job or your marriage. I am not saying all low back pain means this. Of course not. But we have to be willing to hear what our pain is trying to say about our life situation.

In the life-force approach to stuckness, we ask why the pain or chronic condition is there...in other words, there is a state of separation, multiple states of separation, really. Pain is NOT the message, it is a message you are not listening to the message. THE message is that the pain is trying to get your attention. Trying to get you to notice your body, your feelings, that experience.

People come to me to solve their problems, to get rid of their pains. I want you to feel good, too. But the way we go about it is opposite. Clients say, Paul, I have been trying to lose weight for years. Or find love. Or get rid of my pain. Help me. I say, ok, I will help you. Stop trying to lose weight, stop trying to find love or freedom. The client of course looks at me weird. I tell you the first step may be to accept your predicament. The client looks at me even weirder. Then, it comes, the client gets quiet for a moment, then he or she says, "I don't get it. Paul, I just don't get it. I came to you today to ask you to help me get rid of my pain. You are telling me to accept it?"

That's when I get so excited, to show them the missing piece. "OF COURSE YOU DON'T GET IT, THAT'S WHY YOU ARE HERE. YOU DON'T GET IT, YOU DON'T LOSE THE WEIGHT, YOU DON'T GET THE SOULMATE, YOU DON'T FEEL FREE. Now you are on the right track to get it. Can you face that part of you that's without the health, the love, the freedom you want? THATS WHEN YOU GET IT!

The Therapy here is to stop wanting what you can't have, stop trying to change. The Spiritual Healing is the next step to success---feeling the energy in your body and trusting that vitality; and the Coaching is to trust the feelings you thought were stuck are really helping you find health and well-being. REALLY!
