Spring Skiers get Sore Legs

Here in the Aspen valley, winter just doesn't want to leave. Recent storms, and more snow on the way, make skiing a heavy sport.

When the snow is wet and heavy, it is harder to ski in. And skiers' legs get sore.

What's a sore skier to do?

To prevent soreness and relieve pain, try these:

* Stretch before you put on all your gear and hop on a lift.

* Drink plenty of Water while you ski, and the next day. We have an expression in the Aspen valley, "If the altitude and good times don't get ya, the dry air will."

* Get a Massage. Most ski resorts have an abundance of skilled massage therapists. In Basalt, Colorado, the massage therapists at Higher Spa offer both Sports and Thai massage, which are great for muscle recovery, plus a unique spa treatment called an "Endorphin High", just for athletes.

* Eat nutritious foods, especially foods with minerals like magnesium, calcium and potassium. Fish, leafy green vegetables, almonds and other nuts, are good sources.

Enjoy the Spring Skiing. Use these tips to relieve soreness, prevent pain, and Have More Fun!
