If A equals success, then the formula is: A=X+Y+Z. X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut. - Albert Einstein
I saw this quote. Had never seen it before. Speaks volumes.
Albert Einstein was a brilliant man, and this quote speaks to me on many levels.
One can be highly successful in Work. Ditto with Play. Individuals can be highly effective at both and achieve a remarkable work/life balance. However, the caveat is, true Success lies in the full equation.
Therein lies Z, keeping your mouth shut.
Personally, I am taking this part of the simple equation to heart. Many times I wished I could take back what was said in the moment. As humans, we make mistakes. The other thing about being human is that, hopefully, we learn from said mistakes.
So if I think twice before "opening my mouth" odds are that the delivery (on second thought) MAY be quite different, or MAY not be delivered at all.
Although what Einstein had in mind was certainly "verbal" in nature....I have to draw a personal parallel. Not only do I need to be cognizant of keeping my mouth shut "verbally" where appropriate, I also need to be cognizant of keeping my mouth shut for unhealthy food so that I am successful on all levels and that includes the all important Health.
