In order for us women to have complete balance, we need to not only focus on the mind, but the body as well. I am a licensed nurse and a certified prenatal fitness instructor; and although I specialize in the pre/postnatal woman, I am offering my services to all women.
I would like to balance the body and the mind through fitness combined with meditation. The prenatal fitness session will be limited to no more than 3 women. This will ensure more individualized attention and have more of a holistic setting, than a class full of different distractions.
The first segment is performing stretching exercises (yoga-style) that will strengthen the muscles used to support your baby. These exercises will also prevent excess weight gain and prevent/alleviate back problems. They will also aid in the prevention of other pregnancy-related symptoms, such as ankle swelling.
The second segment is meditation. Meditation helps reduce blood pressure, migraines, and many stress-related symptoms and has been proven to be helpful in reducing obsessive thinking, anxiety, depression and hostility. During pregnancy, meditation helps decrease stress; and in labor, it helps you deal more effectively with your contractions. After delivery, meditation helps you deal with the challenges of being a new mom.
