Dr. Gene Plotkin, DC
His interest in healing modalities began in his native Belarus, where, from childhood he was exposed to the natural ways of maintaining and restoring health. The use of herbs, hot saunas, and yoga were part of his upbringing. Gene Plotkin began his career as a health practitioner at the University of San Francisco, Where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Science in 1996. His training allowed him to work in a psychiatric setting, where he spent eight years helping people with various mental disorders. His interest about the mind-body connection brought him to Life Chiropractic College West, where he received his Doctoral degree in Chiropractic in 2006. As a student, Gene explored various techniques that chiropractic has to offer, such as Motion Palpation, Diversified, Gonstead, Drop Table Technique, Network Spinal Analysis, SOT, and Activator method. While in school, he participated in a week long seminar with Dr. Arno Burnier, known as the “Master Piece Training Camp”. During his training with Dr. Burnier, he learned unique methods of adjusting known as Making Love to the Spine, which accentuates the importance of listening to the body, and use of minimal force to reach maximum benefit. He later participated in the workshops offered by Dr. Jay Kumarek, known for his amazing skills of adjusting animals and humans alike. Gene incorporates many of these methods in his practice today. His curiosity for adjusting extremities carried him to the adjusting courses offered by Dr. Walton, who is widely known for his brilliant knowledge of improving functioning of the parts of the body distal to the spine. Later, he received additional training during seminars known as Y-files from a guru of neurology Dr. John Donofrio.
His love for travel and chiropractic took him on a trip to El Salvador in 2007, where he spent a week volunteering and adjusting the native people of El Salvador and helping chiropractic students to develop their own skills. His recent adventures carried him to the San Francisco School of Massage, where he learned basics of Reiki, Trigger Point technique, and Craniosacral therapy, which were taught by chiropractor Dr. Erik Rubin.
Currently, Gene Plotkin practices in San Francisco, where he combines traditional chiropractic methods with other alternative modalities, which he has learned over the course of his career. He enjoys working with people from all walks of life. His philosophy on illness resonates with the early founder of Chiropractic BJ Plamer who said, there are only two problems that can exist in the human body: Too Much and Too Little (BJ Palmer). Dr. Gene’s goal is to bring those two problems to the minimum to create a healthy balance.
