About

Rita Laird, MA, LCPC

When children experience the world as a threatening or fearful place, they communicate their internal struggles and pain through behavior. They attempt to survive through the flight or fight response which creates challenging and serious behavioral concerns that worry and overwhelm care givers.

I help children and adolescents develop the tools needed in order to cope with, and gain mastery over, intense emotions, impulses, and frustrations. I provide guidance and support to parents while they navigate their own decision making path on how to best raise their children.

I place great value on the therapeutic relationship with my clients. I ensure a safe, warm, and comforting environment for clients and families. I believe in a collaborative approach and believe that working with a child includes working with the family. I help caregivers fully understand the meaning behind their child’s behavior, so they can learn how to, not only meet their child’s individual needs, but manage and improve the entire family’s quality of life.
