by Beth Rosenshein Like many of you, when I was pre-menopausal I thought sex after menopause would be a little less intense but something that wouldn't bother me. My doctor never said anything and I never heard ladies talking about how bad sex was after menopause, so I really wasn't concerned. I had heard women say, "I am done with that" but I really didn't know what they meant. After all, why would anyone give up sex... 11/4/2008 12:01:14 PM
by Al Jacobs Are you watching as the nation's politicians work to solve the financial meltdown of 2008? Though they all have different opinions on what must be done, they seem to agree on one point: hundreds of billions in taxpayers' dollars must be thrown at the problem. The popular phrase of the moment is "bailout," with visions of the federal government buying up non-performing mortgage loans from failing financial... 10/22/2008 9:07:22 PM
by wojcik11 It has been hard to ignore lately, the ads running on television trying to dispel the negative reputation that high fructose corn syrup has gained over recent years. It's part of an 18-month campaign launched by the Corn Refiners Association (CRA) in effort to give high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) an image makeover. The message: High-fructose corn syrup is made from corn, has no artificial ingredients,... 10/22/2008 9:05:17 AM
by wojcik11 Insomnia is estimated to affect more than half of the U.S. adult population. Insomnia can take many different forms: difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, waking up too early, or waking up feeling unrefreshed. In a survey by the National Sleep Foundation, 58% of adults reported having insomnia at least a few nights a week. Aside from the ever popular sleep aids and medications such as Ambien,... 10/15/2008 8:18:39 AM
by Beth Rosenshein Dry eye syndrome is absolutely awful. What's more, it is preventable when it is a result of untreated profound hypogonadism (menopause). Your doctor may tell you that it is not curable but that is because the studies on HRT have shown that it is made worse by taking post-menopausal hormones. Dry eye is made worse because the hormones that were used in these studies are nothing like the hormones that... 10/14/2008 9:59:20 AM
by wojcik11 Many of us already know the benefits of drinking plenty of water and proper hydration, but with the simple addition of fresh lemon juice you may have yourself a very healing beverage. I recommend that many of my patients begin each day...first thing in the morning...before any other food or drink (and yes, that means before your coffee..) with a glass of warm or hot lemon water. Why lemon water you... 10/7/2008 10:24:16 AM
by Beth Rosenshein It shouldn't be. Testosterone is a hormone that all human beings need to stay healthy. When I hear that menopause is normal and natural and therefore should go untreated I think about how everyone suffers from that kind of thinking. Around age 40-50 everyone needs reading glasses. That is natural and normal. Should only men wear reading glasses but not women? What do you think about when you think... 9/26/2008 7:56:21 AM
by wojcik11 I came across this list in body + soul magazine, written by Terri Trespicio. It resonated with me today and I thought it may with all of you as well: Ten Thoughts on Whole Living. 1. You already possess all you need to stay calm. It's just a matter of practice. 2. Food isn't just fuel; it has the power to heal. 3. You can't slow the aging process by getting tough on your body. Be gentle instead. 4.... 9/18/2008 2:15:58 PM
by Beth Rosenshein Reading the most recent headlines about menopause you would think older women should not use HRT. New evaluations of the Women's Health Initiative (WHI) are saying that using HRT does not raise a woman's risk for disease until about age 60-65 or after about 10 years on HRT. There are so many problems with this statement it is hard to know where to begin. First of all, hormone replacement therapy wasn't... 9/17/2008 10:45:54 PM
by wojcik11 At some point in our lives we will have to face the loss of a loved one, sometimes it is sudden and at other times it is expected - in either circumstance the grief and sense of loss can be just as raw and all consuming. This grief not only affects us in the moment but may carry over for years affecting a person both psychologically and physically. No doubt there is a natural period of mourning and... 9/16/2008 6:15:45 AM
